Hypeddit Review: Pricing & Top Alternative For Music Links

By Matthew Vultaggio

November 30, 2023

Looking for a simple link to promote your latest release in your link in bio or want to run Facebook and Instagram ads for Spotify?

Then you will definitely want to know if Hypeddit work for artists, so I’ve researched this topic and wrote about my findings right here for you.

Hypeddit is a music promotion tool that can create smart link landing pages to promote your music on Spotify, Soundcloud, and other music streaming services.

Although a good place to start for new artists, Hypeddit has some serious limitations and any serious artist will eventually want to upgrade their music links.

With that said, if you want to learn more about Hypeddit, their pricing, and what other alternatives are out there, simply keep on reading, my friend. 🙂

What is Hypeddit & Is It Good?

Hypeddit is a music promotion tool that focuses on creating different smart link landing pages to promote music on Spotify, Soundcloud and other music streaming services.

Although Hypeddit does offer some other services and tools like sample packs and Facebook music tabs, their main offering is different styles of landing pages for music promotion.

Hyppedit is not good for any artists looking to do advanced Spotify promotion but is good for any artist wanting to add a basic smart link to promote their music on their Instagram or other social media.

With that said, when it comes to paid options for music links, Hypeddit does have one of the most reasonable price points compared to the competition and is a fantastic choice for the money.

…so why is Hypeddit only good for basic music promotion?

This is because the ability to effectively run Facebook and Instagram ads and other useful music promotion strategies like lead collection require a monthly Hypeddit subscription.

It is for that reason that I would say the free version of Hypeddit is not good for artists or musicians, and that there are better alternatives for artists looking for a paid solution (more on that later!).

How Hypeddit Works

Hypeddit works as a “middleman” between your fans and your music by creating automatic smart link landing pages by connecting all of your artist accounts (Spotify, Soundcloud, etc) to their platform.

Once connected, artists can then create landing pages for their releases so that they have a tool to potentially help them grow streams, pre-saves, or fan emails.

However, the effectiveness and amount of features will depend on whether or not a paid Hypeddit subscription is active.

How To Use Hypeddit

To use Hypeddit, simply create an account with them and connect your artist accounts (Spotify, Soundcloud, etc) to their platform. You can then create simple links to your releases that you can share around the internet.

To use Hypeddit to run Facebook and Instagram ads for Spotify, to collect fan emails, or to simply be taken more seriously by having the Hypeddit branding removed, you need to also pay for a monthly subscription.

Hypeddit Price

Hypeddit costs $9 USD per month. This monthly subscription allows artists to collect fan emails, use advertising tracking pixels, have a custom domain, and replace the Hypeddit branding with their own.

Although there aren’t many templates to choose from and the company can be quite pushy about getting their customers to upgrade, if you choose to pay for Hypeddit you really do get great value for the money and one of the lowest prices out there.

Is Hypeddit Free?

Hypeddit has a free option available that allows for Hypeddit-branded smart links without the following features: fan email collection, advertising tracking pixels, custom domain, and custom branding.

However, artists should know that giving away something with a catch is a specific marketing tactic called “Freemium”.

The goal with a Freemium business model is to get you started with a limited version of their product so that they can entice you over time to stop missing out on the premium features and start paying a monthly subscription for the full product.

To learn more about Freemium business model, I cover it in more detail in my article called Is Linktree Free?

Is Hypeddit Worth It?

Hypeddit is not worth it because the free version is too limited and basic to be useful and because the ability to effectively run Facebook and Instagram ads and other useful music promotion strategies like lead collection require a monthly Hypeddit subscription.

However, when it comes to paid options for music links, Hypeddit does have one of the most reasonable price points compared to the competition and is a fantastic choice for the money.

It’s for this reason that in my guide on the best smart link tools to promote your music, I list Hypeddit as the best option when it comes to budget music links.

Although there are nicer (but more premium) options out there as well as completely free music links, the $9 per month price tag for Hypeddit ‘Pro’ is quite reasonable when compared to the competition.

At the end of the day, Hypeddit is just another smart link / basic landing page tool like the hundreds of others out there, with a few music-related features just like ToneDen, DistroKid HyperFollow, Feature.FM, and so many more also offer.

…but, with that said…

Does Hypeddit Work?

Hypeddit does work for artists, bands, musicians, and producers, and can be a very effective tool to grow streams and gain fans.

However, Hypeddit is just a basic website landing page tool and there are much better alternatives out there for the price.

Is Hypeddit Legit?

Hypeddit is a legit company that has been around since 2014. Their products and services are used by thousands of artists and the Hypeddit founder, John Gold, is a legitimate musician himself with a proven track record of success in the music industry.

With that out of the way, let’s finally dig into what you’ve been waiting for… the top alternative to Hypeddit…

The Top Hypeddit Alternative

The best alternative to Hypeddit and their smart links are to simply build your own custom smart links by using a WordPress or SquareSpace website.

I do this myself with my very own WordPress-based website (aka the one you are on right now) and find it to be way more flexible and effective, particularly if you want to do the Spotify algorithm hack by running Facebook and Instagram ads to your smart link pages.

The reasons I’d recommend doing this over using the Hypeddit links are because:

  • Without paying for these services, you can create smart links that are exactly in the style of Hypeddit, Linktree, Toneden, HyperFollow, etc.
  • Get more streams to your music by using my highly tested and conversion-optimized smart link template
  • Look more professional and credible by having a custom domain and no other company’s branding on them
  • Get your brand and identity across by perfectly customizing your smart links to look exactly how you want them to

On top of this, you’d actually have a legit and professional full-blown website and not just some smart links for promoting your music.

For a free step-by-step course on how to get started with this, check out my free course on smart links for music.

The things you can do with a website are endless (ie: blogs to rank on Google like this post you are reading, create a Patreon-style membership, private webpages for your fans to create unique experiences, etc)

But, to start, how can you go about creating your own smart links for promoting your music in the style of Hypeddit?

How To Make A Hypeddit Like Website Yourself

To create your own smart links in the style of Hypeddit, all you need is either a simple WordPress-based website or a Squarespace-based website. If you already have a website solution in place, you may be able to create your own smart links at no extra cost to you.

To create your own smart links for marketing your music, the truth is that you can really use any website creator on the market today. But, it is best if you have the ability to create pages that allow you to remove the header and footer menus like you can with WordPress or Squarespace.

Although both options are great, I use and recommend WordPress because:

  • There are no (or very low) monthly fees
  • More customization and flexibility because of the endless amount of WordPress plugins available
  • The option to use pre-made templates already in the style of Linktree, Toneden, Hypeddit, etc.

To get started with your very own custom WordPress website, all you need to do is install WordPress and then create some “smart link”-style landing pages with the free built-in WordPress page editor.

For a free step-by-step course on how to get started with this, check out my free course on smart links for music.

To install WordPress as quickly and easily as possible, I’d recommend using a web hosting service like Bluehost that gives you web hosting, a website domain, and then instantly sets up WordPress on it for you, all in just a few simple clicks.

Then, when you want to take things to the next level, you can install a premium theme that allows you to perfectly reproduce the looks of other smart link pages and even download pre-made templates like Thrive Architect.

If you are just starting out, I’d recommend starting off with a simple WordPress-based website to keep your costs low and then upgrade to a premium theme when you feel ready to make the leap.

With that said, I’m personally using Bluehost to take care of all of my website needs and have also installed Thrive Architect to not only build smart links in the style of DistroKid HyperFollow but also to create the entire website that you are on right now. 🙂

How To Cancel Hypeddit

To cancel your Hypeddit subscription, login to your Hypeddit dashboard and click on ‘Account Settings, from there you can downgrade your account to the ‘free’ version or completely cancel your account.
