Linkfire Alternative: The Best Smart Links For Music Marketing?

By Matthew Vultaggio

February 27, 2023

Although Linkfire has some nice features and good-looking landing pages, you may be wondering if there is a better and cheaper alternative to having smart links for marketing your music. I’ve researched this topic, found the answer, and wrote about it for you right here.

The best premium alternative to Linkfire is Amplify.Link, the best budget alternative is Hypeddit, and the best free alternative to Linkfire is ToneDen’s FanLinks.

These top alternatives to Linkfire have also been confirmed to be able to have everything you need to properly run Facebook ads for musicians.

In particular, this area is where Linkfire falls short as you are unable to easily and affordably set up a custom domain and advertising pixel to get the most out of your smart links.

In this article, I will show you the absolute best alternative to Linkfire, and how you can get set up quickly and easily. Just keep reading to learn more, my friend. 🙂

Top Premium Linkfire Alternative: Amplify.Link

Amplify.Link is a marketing platform that allows musicians and music artists to create smart links that can be used for promoting their music.

Although Amplify.Link has free music links available, you will not be able to properly run Spotify conversion ads unless you pay $20 per month for their ‘Pro’ plan.

Amplify.Link Theme & Template Examples

Although $20 per month can be a bit more on the pricier side, the number of sweet-looking templates, solid analytics, and extra features that you get like a shop and email collection pop-ups definitely make Amplify.Link worth looking at.

If you want to try it out, I’ll admit that I am not too crazy about what they offer on their ‘Free’ plan but they do provide a free 14-day trial of their Pro plan that can be worth checking out.

Or – if you’d like to learn more first, check out my complete Amplify.Link review for more. 🙂

Top Budget Linkfire Alternative: Hypeddit

Hypeddit is a marketing platform that allows musicians and music artists to create different links to promote their music to the world.

Although Hypeddit does offer a free version of their music links, you will not be able to properly run Spotify conversion ads unless you pay $9 per month for their ‘Pro’ plan.

With that said, when it comes to paid options for music links, Hypeddit has one of the most reasonable price points compared to the competition and is a fantastic choice for the money.

I can recommend using Hypeddit music links when on Hypeddit’s ‘Pro’ plan because you can properly run Spotify conversion ads and customize your music links for a reasonable price.

Top Free Linkfire Alternative: ToneDen FanLinks

ToneDen FanLinks are links that you can create to promote your music releases on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

It is super easy to get set up with ToneDen, there are plenty of customization options, you can create unlimited links, and all of the features needed to properly run Facebook Ads are included for free.

ToneDen FanLink Creation Process

The only potential downside of using ToneDen for your music links is that they will be pushing you to use their platform for managing your ad spend.

ToneDen’s managed and automated ads platform is super intuitive and can get truly fantastic results, however, it can be a bit pricey for a newer artist that does not have a lot of wiggle room in their budget.

Ultimately, ToneDen gives you really great value and customization options with their free music links making ToneDen my #1 recommended free music link at this time.

Create Your Own Linkfire Smart Links (For Less)

To create your own Linkfire smart links all you need is either a simple WordPress-based website or a Squarespace-based website.

If you already have a website solution in place, you may be able to create your own smart links at no extra cost to you.

To create your own smart links for marketing your music, the truth is that you can really use any website creator on the market today.

But, it is best if you have the ability to create pages that allow you to remove the header and footer menus like you can with WordPress or Squarespace.

Although both options are great, I use and recommend WordPress because:

  • There are no (or very low) monthly fees
  • More customization and flexibility because of the endless amount of WordPress plugins available
  • The option to use pre-made templates already in the style of Linktree, Toneden, Hypeddit, etc.

To get started with your very own custom WordPress website, all you need to do is install WordPress and then create some “smart link”-style landing pages with the free built-in WordPress page editor.

To install WordPress as quickly and easily as possible, I’d recommend using a web hosting service like Bluehost that gives you web hosting, a website domain, and then instantly sets up WordPress on it for you, all in just a few simple clicks.

Then, when you want to take things to the next level, you can install a premium theme that allows you to perfectly reproduce the looks of other smart link pages and even download pre-made templates like Thrive Architect.

If you want a free step-by-step guide on how to get started, check out my free course on smart links for music.

If you are just starting out, I’d recommend starting off with a simple WordPress-based website to keep your costs low and then upgrading to a premium theme when you feel ready to make the leap.

With that said, I’m personally using Bluehost to take care of all of my website needs and have also installed Thrive Architect to not only build smart links in the style of Linkfire, but also to create the entire website that you are on right now. 🙂

Is Linkfire Free?

Linkfire is not free but does have a 7-day free trial and an ad-supported account available. No credit card is required to start the free trial and the trial is available for both their Starter and Pro plans.

After signing up for the Linkfire free trial, you will be invited to continue with a paid plan as the 7-days come to a close.

If you do not choose to continue with a paid Linkfire plan before the trial is up, your account will revert to an “ad-supported” account with limited features.

Linkfire vs Linktree

The main difference between Linktree and Linkfire is that Linktree is mostly focused on “link in bio” style landing pages while Linkfire has “link in bio” style landing pages as well as other landing pages specific for musicians, artists, and producers to promote their new releases and music.

Although Linktree is cheaper to use at $6 per month, its features are much more limited and their focus is on basic “link in bio” style pages that have a few buttons linking out to different websites.

Also, unlike Linkfire, Linktree has a “free” option that offers you non-ad-supported landing pages with limited functionality.

However, this “free” option is part of a business model called “Freemium” that is really meant to do these 3 things:

  1. Get you on their system.
  2. Covertly show you all the great reasons you should actually upgrade and why the “free” version is not enough.
  3. Get you so used to their system so that you feel like it would be too much hassle to go anywhere else.

In addition to this, you are not able to properly run Spotify conversion ads with Linktree so they are not recommended for musicians and music artists.

Companies Like Linkfire To Check Out

Companies that are similar to Linkfire include LinkTree, ToneDen, and Hypeedit.

However, I believe that the best Linkfire alternative is to create your own fully customizable WordPress website because it is cheaper and more flexible when designing web pages.

If you do not want to go the DIY approach, and instead want to look up some other smart link competitors, here is a list of companies like Linkfire that are worth checking out:

Looking For The Best Music Distributor?

Although my top suggestion for a music distributor is definitely DistroKid, I’ve gone ahead and compared DK to other popular services in case you are in the market for a new digital distributor or are simply just curious.

Popular alternatives to a music distribution service like DistroKid include TuneCore, CdBaby, Ditto, and Amuse.

If you would like to see how DistroKid compares to these services, more closely check out these articles:
